Making Mums

Join us for a 1.5 hour mindful craft class where we explore a simple craft technique.

Each week we will learn a simple craft technique, something that can be done whilst your baby sits on your lap, snuggles in the sling, has a feed or snoozes in the pram. This session is an opportunity to do something for you, to have a chat with other local mums and let your mind wander whilst you make something with your hands. So much of your day as a new mum is spent looking after your new babe and perhaps taking them to classes for their development, so let this class be a weekly opportunity to carve out time to nurture yourself and spark your creativity.

I Can't Draw

Join us at Springbank Studio for the first of our quarterly events. With Autumn in the air and back-to-school in swing, we’re bringing you a playful series of exhibitions and workshops entitled ‘ I Can’t Draw’.

The space will host an exhibition of drawings by members of an online drawing group founded at the beginning of the pandemic.

Accompanying this work will be a series of drawing workshops for children and adults, so you can get involved and shake off the mantra ‘I can’t draw’.

We will have a large-scale interactive drawing station so everyone who walks through the door can try drawing. We will also have a build-your-own drawing tools station and a few late-night drawing sessions, which can be booked here.

20th September - Show open, free kids drawing sessions all day, pop in and get drawing 11 am - 6 pm

Natural dye workshop

Join Georgia Bosson for this weekend workshop at the newly completed Springbank Studio space. The 2.5-hour session is an introduction to natural dyeing, where we will explore bundle dyeing techniques, learn how to make natural dyes, and learn about how different fibres respond to natural dyes.

Learn how to dye silk with bundle dying using only natural flora. We'll be using seasonal plants along with a selection of carefully dried flowers.

Create two unique lengths of delicate silk that can be used to make a scarf, pillowcase, lavender bags or even beautiful Japanese style Furoshiki gift wrapping.

You will leave with the knowledge and skills required to make your own bundle–dyed items, using simple equipment which can be found in your kitchen.
